Ingredients

Frozen dumplings
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Water

Pan fry method

STEP 1

Heat the oil in the non-stick frying pan over a medium heat until the oil is shimmering.

STEP 2

Carefully place the frozen dumplings in a single layer in the hot frying pan.

STEP 3

Cook for 1-2 minutes until the bottom of the dumplings are golden brown. Turn once and cook on another side for another minute.

STEP 4

Add enough water so that it covers the dumplings by half or 2/3.

STEP 5

Reduce the heat to medium-low.

STEP 6

Cover with a lid and steam the dumplings for up to 10 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.

STEP 7

Remove the lid and allow the remaining water to evaporate, and the bottom of the dumplings to crisp.

STEP 8

Remove dumplings from the pan and serve hot.

Microwave method

STEP 1

Place frozen dumplings in a microwave safe container.

STEP 2

Add enough water so that it covers the dumplings by half or 2/3.

STEP 3

Cover and microwave on high for 2-3 minutes or until dumplings are cooked through. Drain the remaining water.

STEP 4

Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan on a medium heat.

STEP 5

Add the dumplings to the frying pan and cook for 1-2 minutes, swirling the pan so that all sides of the dumplings turn a golden brown.

STEP 6

Remove from the pan and serve.

Do you need to defrost frozen dumplings?

No, you do not need to defrost frozen dumplings before cooking, you can take them straight from the freezer to the pan. If you wanted a faster cooking time, let the dumplings partially thaw for 10 minutes before cooking.

How do I know if my dumplings are cooked?

After following the cooking instructions, test if the dumplings are cooked by cutting one in half. The filling should be cooked, fluffy and hot throughout and the dough should be chewy but not doughy.

What oil do I use to pan fry dumplings?
