Wondering what to wear every day of the week? Ayurveda can help!
Raise your hand if you find yourself asking the same question every morning, “What do I wear?” What if I told you that Ayurveda offers a simple solution to harmonize your wardrobe with Vedic Astrology? For starters, Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing that originates from India and has been practiced for over 5,000 years. Aside from diet, lifestyle, doshas, herbs … Ayurveda offers an entire system of health and wellness including subtle therapies. We aren’t just what we eat but also what we smell, see, feel, and hear.
What is Vedic Astrology?
Can we agree that planets influence us, our earth, global warming, and other climatic events? Rooted in the Vedas, Vedic astrology is based on the belief that thestars and planetshave a powerful influence on our lives. In Ayurveda, “the science of light” is calledJyotish. It is often referred to as Vedic Astrology. According to Kamlesh Trivedi, a Vedic astrologer for horoscope and astrology appNebula,“Vedic astrology explains planetary motions and position with respect to time, space, and their effect on humans and all the other entities on the planet Earth.”[1]
Color Therapy in Ayurveda
Let’s be honest; we all use colors to express ourselves. Black color (funerals, big meetings) feels like serious business while yellow feels friendly and exuberant. Colors reveal a part of our mood or identity. Color therapy, also known as Chromotherapy, is the principle that certain colors are infused with healing powers.Every color stimulates specific organs. There are colors that work best for certain doshas and can be aggravating for others. Basically, in Ayurveda, colors can be used to balance yourself.
The Power of Colors in Vedic Astrology
In Ayurveda, colorconnects to your subconscious, including feelings and memories, and can have powerful effects on the mind. According to Jyotish orVedicAstrology, each planet has a specific influence on our mind, body, or emotions. Each planet is also associated with a color in Ayurveda. To align oneself with the positive influences of the planets and absorb the planetary energy in the light in a positive way, Ayurveda suggests that a person should wear clothes of appropriate color for each day of the week. Voila!
Day of the Week | Planet | Color of Clothing | Energy |
Monday | Moon | White | Inspiration |
Tuesday | Mars | Red | Action |
Wednesday | Mercury | Green | Wealth |
Thursday | Jupiter | Yellow | Spirituality |
Friday | Venus | Purple, Pink | Love, Compassion |
Saturday | Saturn | Black, Dark Blue | Reflection |
Sunday | Sun | Red | Power |
Making the best use of your time
I am not saying that embracing the colors of the planet will dramatically transform your life. But, whether or not you believe in Vedic Astrology, having a system in place that helps you plan your wardrobe is immensely helpful. I love anything that adds structure to my day and allows me to use my time effectively.
If you choose to wear the corresponding color for each planet that is represented by each day of the week, it lowers the stress around wardrobe-planning. If you can focus on a task depending on the energy of the day, it might enhance your productivity. For example, Thursdays are my days for self-study, volunteer work, and connecting with people whenever I can. My “energy” is in alignment with Jupiter’s energy.
In the 21st century, aren’t Thursday evenings all about happy hour and evening out with colleagues? Have fun with the colors and enjoy the space in your calendar!
