Many green steak sauce recipes will include cilantro and omit the peppers, but we wanted to honor the traditional chimichurri ingredients and stick to the basics in this easy recipe.

Note: If you do not like spicy food you can omit the red chili pepper. And if you were looking for cilantro parsley chimichurri sauce simply swap 1/2 of the parsley for cilantro and skip the red chili pepper.

How to Make Easy Chimichurri Sauce

It’s easy to make this Argentine chimichurry sauce, especially since we make the entire thing in a food processor or blender.

Some recipes call for chopping all the ingredients (which you can absolutely do if you don’t have a food processor) but we wanted to give you an extra easy Chimichurri sauce.

Note: If you don’t have a high speed blender, use a food processor, and if you don’t have either, just finely chop all the ingredients and add to a bowl. Marinate just as the directions state, and you’ll have a super yummy (chunky!) parsley garlic sauce.

How to Make Homemade Chimichurri Sauce:

  1. Add the parsley, chili, garlic cloves, oregano, salt, pepper and paprika to a high speed blender or food processor.
  2. Pulse until it’s as smooth as you can get it, then add in the red wine vinegar and the lime juice and pulse a bit more until you reach the desired consistency. If needed, add in water one tablespoon at a time to reach desired consistency.
  3. Transfer to a medium bowl, cover and let rest in the fridge for 1-24 hours to marinate, the longer the better.
