Elizabeth Stewart (formerly Elizabeth Bradley), age 57, suddenly passed away on April 10th, 2024.
Elizabeth was known by many names; Elizabeth Stewart when she was growing up, Elizabeth Bradley while she raised her kids, Mama Bradley by her sons’ friends, Lizzie to friends and family, Beebee by her grandparents, daughter by Robert and Evelyn, sister by Evelyn and Ruth, boss by her beloved employees at Lucky Dogz, and most importantly, Mom by her sons Bob, Sean, and Corey.
Elizabeth was born in Chestnut hill, grew up in Erdenheim, PA and attended Springfield Township schools, graduating from Springfield High School, Class of 1985. Elizabeth was incredibly hardworking and devoted her life to helping people and animals. She started a house cleaning business and taught aerobics, all while completing her Associate Degree from Montgomery County Community College, taking classes at Arcadia, and raising her first two boys at home with their father Paul. After her third son, Corey, was born, she pursued her passion of dog behavior and graduated from Animal Behavior College (ABC) to become a certified dog trainer. In 2011, one of her biggest dreams came to fruition, and Lucky Dogz, a doggie daycare in Wyndmoor, was opened. Lucky Dogz was a sanctuary for employees and an amazing place for dogs. Elizabeth took the time to get to know the people working with her. She valued her employees beyond who they were at work and sought their perspective in how to ensure Lucky Dogz was a wonderful place to be. At the peak of Lucky Dogz, they welcomed over 100 dogs a day and she was extremely hands-on with the care of every dog. She knew each dog by name and their owners personally. When COVID hit, she kept their doors open and continued to offer hours to all that needed them even when client numbers dwindled. She was the reason Lucky Dogz was the extraordinary place it was.
She was an active member with the Delaware Valley Pug Rescue, fostering many pugs over the years and helping to re-home them. She hosted many fundraising events including Pug-O-Ween and pictures with Santa. She also worked with hospice programs by assisting with pet therapy and brightened the days of many patients. You could always find Elizabeth volunteering with her children’s schools and attending events in Chestnut Hill to meet other dog lovers. One year she had a local Brownie Troop come to Lucky Dogz and helped them earn their Pets Badge by teaching them about dogs and what care and training they needed. She provided a home for two children in the neighborhood after their house burned down, lending a hand when tragedy struck their family. Her endless energy and compassion touched countless lives in her community. If you were lucky enough to be gifted some of her goodies and holiday treats, you could taste how much love she put into everything she did.
Most importantly, Elizabeth loved her family fiercely and always put them first. She took many family trips to Florida to visit her sister, Evelyn, and had so much fun exploring Don Pedro Island. She also enjoyed spending time with her sister, Ruth, chatting and savoring delicious snacks from their favorite candy shop (Stutz). She was a devoted mother, and her sons were the center of her universe. She talked with Bob for hours about his life goals and discussed new business plans and creative ways to improve Lucky Dogz. She often shared cooking recipes with Sean and was always interested in hearing about his current schoolwork. She never missed an opportunity to go to Corey’s wrestling matches, baseball, football, and basketball games. She cheered not just for Corey, but everyone on the team.
Elizabeth was so loved by every life she touched. She valued people and wanted to really know each person she met. She will be greatly missed. Bob, Sean, and Corey carry on her limitless love, unimaginable strength, and incredible work ethic.
We will be honoring the life of Elizabeth on Friday, April 19th, at George Washington Memorial Park chapel. Visitation begins at 1pm with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2pm.
