Simply unscrew the centre perforated metal disc, change the silicone ring and screw back in. Worth cleaning while in bits - this can take a while if you havent done it for ages

I used a 50 cent coin to unscrew the screw that holds the stainless filter and steam ring in place. Cleaned everything at the same time so took a bit longer because of that.

With a screwdriver remove the screw holding the stainless steel grid and remove the old silicone ring noting which side fits the grid. Fit the new ring and screw the grid in place. Success make sure the screwdriver head fits the screw as the screw may be tight.

To fit the steam ring turn coffee machine onto its back. Looking towards the area where the coffee is placed on the machine. There is a concave shiny perforated plate with one phillips head screw holding the plate. Remove the screw remove the plate making sure you notice which way the steam ring is fitted. Wash and check the plate for damage. Remove the old steam ring replace the steam ring with new part. Carry out assembly by reversing the above steps.

Tools Required:

One stubby or short phillips head screwdriver that will fit the screw. The screwdriver has to be short to allow it to fit between the base of the coffee machine and the part that is being removed.

Fitting this ring is too easy and quite obvious. Simply undo the single screw remove the steel mesh cover and replace the rubber ring.

Empty the coffee unit, unplug etc and turn it upside down and rest it on an old tea towel. Remove the fixed filter basket around the old steam ring by removing the single screw in the center. Mine came off with great resistance as the unit is around 9 years old and the 1 screw holding the basket in place did not co-operate. Once the old basket is off fit it in the new steam ring and push it back in place. Replace the screw ( if you can) and re assemble.

Tools Required:

If my unit was newer and the 1 screw holding the basket in was in better condition it should have taken 10 minutes with a short handle medium phillips head screwdriver

Remove the water tank, put the machine on its back or upside down. Using a short screwdriver remove the stainless steel filter and silicon steam ring. Fit the new steam ring to the filter making sure the round side is up. Replace the filter with steam ring and screw it tight

Remove central fixing screw from steam distributor, remove distributor disc then remove old steam ring. Clean all adhering material from mounting with scraper and steel wool. Ensure seating area for new seal is clean and reverse procedure for fitting new seal.

Lay machine on back with water tank drip tray and espresso handle removed. Using a pz driver remove the screw central to the metal steam disperser plate. Remove disperser along with any remnant material from the old seal. Clean the disperser plate and seal seating. Insert new seal remount disperser plate insert and tighten central retainer screw. Stand machine upright, refit water tank, drip tray, and load cup with grounds. Test repaired machine - confirm no steam or water leaks around seal
