What is 20/20/20 fertilizer good for? ›

Specially formulated with a strong, balanced NPK that results in great foliage growth and stronger roots. Works excellently for a variety of flowers, vegetables, shrubs, trees and houseplants.

Our 20 20 20 Garden Fertilizer has a balanced ratio of nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium that works great for fertilizing plants at all stages of growth. This water soluble formula dissolves easily in water and can be applied by pouring alongside plants or with an injection system.

Use 5 lbs. per 100 gallons of water (2 TBS. per gallon).

In both cases, the NPK 20 20 20 fertiliser need only be used once, after which normal feeding can resume.

Until the plants begin flowering, you can use a balanced fertilizer with a 1-1-1 ratio such as 20-20-20. Once flowering, change over to a high potassium fertilizer. Most fertilizers blended for tomatoes fit this description.

MG is so strong that if used incorrectly, the fertilizer will actually burn the leaves and roots of your plants (you may have already experienced this). Imagine what it's doing to the healthy bacteria, fungi and other soil microbes that are working so hard to provide the nutrients your plants need.

Measure and mix it directly into your watering can and pour the solution around the bases of your plants, or use with your hose in a sprayer (like the Miracle-Gro® Garden Feeder) for larger areas. Plan to feed every 7 to 14 days.

Peters Professional 20-20-20 General Purpose Fertilizer has a shelf life of at least 3-5 years if stored in a cool dry place.

So a fertilizer that has the same number for all three elements, like 20-20-20, is called a balanced fertilizer and will have equal amounts of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. A fertilizer with unique numbers for the three elements will have different amounts of each nutrient.

Treatment should be discontinued prior to flower buds reaching ¾” in diameter. Hydrangea Fertilizer should not be applied until root activity and transplanting have occurred. Start with one application of Plant-Prod® 10-52-10 Starter or Plant-Prod 20-20-20 All Purpose.

Is 20 20 20 fertilizer good for all indoor plants? ›

Most houseplants do best with a balanced (i.e., 10-10-10 or 20-20-20) fertilizer specifically designed for houseplants, or a formula with a higher nitrogen number.

If using lawn fertilizers, make sure they do not contain weed killers in the formulation. Always water well after application as the high nitrogen content will burn roots. After growth is established to about 12 inches, apply a water soluble formulation 20-20-20 or similar rose formulas.

The density of 20-20-20 is 1.17 g/ml, so the amount of powder needed would be 0.25ml x 1.17 g/ml = 0.29g. Therefore, you would need to dissolve 0.29g of 20-20-20 in 1.5L of water to achieve the same dose as the 2-2-2 liquid fertilizer."

The mixing ratio for Peters Professional 20-20-20 General Purpose Fertilizer is 1 tsp per gallon of water. It is recommended that you fill your tank up half way, put the product in, fill the tank up the rest of the way and agitate. This should not clog your sprayer because the product will dissolve in water.

Understanding NPK

For example, a product marked 10-10-10 contains 10 percent nitrogen, 10 percent phosphorus and 10 percent potassium. A bag marked 20-20-20 containers twice as much of each nutrient. NPK numbers aren't always equal. You may see a product marked 9-3-6 or 25-4-2.

This fertilizer is completely water-soluble. It can thus be used in hydroponics/hanging gardens also. Performs very well for flowering plants and fruit-bearing plants. Increases the quantity and size of fruits, leaves and flowers.

Apply slow-release, high-nitrogen fertilizer every 90 to 120 days at the start of spring, summer and fall. Apply all-purpose fertilizer every six to eight weeks.
