Dr Pepper Barbecue Sauce
We have been on a real barbecue kick for the past couple of weeks. I’ve found a wonderful meat market that has the best trimmed beef briskets.
My husband is king of the grill around our house and he has been smoking the briskets for a couple of hours on the grill and then we finish it in the oven to get it nice and tender.
Brisket is just about my favorite food on the planet. I just can’t get enough of it. Brisket Nachos, Brisket Tacos and not to mention Christmas Brisket Fried Rice. I think I could eat it every single day.
How do you make a tender, smoky brisket even better? Slather it inthis Dr Pepper Barbecue Sauce of course! Add a side of Creamy Coleslaw and you have yourself a fabulous meal!
How to Make Dr Pepper Barbecue Sauce:
- Add Dr Pepper, ketchup, brown sugar, worcestershire sauce, liquid smoke and spices to a large sauce pan and cook until boiling.
- Simmer 5 minutes.
- Set aside to cool.
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Although I still remember the recipe for the barbecue sauce business that I sold, I have fun experimenting with different sauces.
This one was super quick and easy and just a slight variation on the Coca-Cola Barbecue Sauce I made for ribs. We also love this thick and hearty Homemade Barbecue Sauce and if you like a spicy sauce, Jalapeno Barbecue Sauceis a must-try!
If you are looking for something outside of the box, give our White Barbecue Sauce a try! It’s amazing on grilled chicken or our Mustard BBQ Sauce is a total show stopper!
I intended to share this with you before the July 4th holiday but I was running crazy all week. There’s lots of grilling season left and barbecue sauce is something we enjoy year round.
You have to try instead of picking up a bottle from the market. Trust me this one is going to knock your socks off!
I have often considered opening up a barbecue restaurant but I always talk myself out of it. I really do love my job. I know how a restaurant takes all of your time and efforts but I still think it would be fun!
I grew up in our family’s restaurant and I used tothink never again. Now I find myself thinking, maybe some day.
A barbecue restaurant would kind of tie all of my crazy ideas together but for now, I think I will stick with developing recipes and sharing them here. It’s not really as if I have time to be bored these days!
My kids love drinking Dr Pepper and it gives this sauce a zippy sweetness, but you don’t really get the distinct flavor of the Dr Pepper, it just adds a wonderful sweetness and depth of flavor.
We loved it drizzled over the smoked brisket and burgers and pretty much every thing we ate this week. Try dunking your favorite chicken strips or even fries in it or these mini Barbecue Meat Pies!
I think you will find yourself making this again and again!
