IT ADDS TO NEW namo nnnni UHU 0 rnUDLCIY. Youth Ponders Baby, Burglary in Ceil Londy 1 1 1 a youthful burglar, sat in the Austin police station lockup yesterday, pondering the responsibilities of parenthood. It seems that between visits to his wife, Mary Ann, 22, a new mother in Ravenswood hospital, he embarked on a few burglaries with a friend. His wife bore a daughter, Renee, at the hospital Jan. 13.

Finds Hospital Pass Earlier this week, after the home of Dudley S. Clarke, 2363 N. Rutherford was looted of $800 in jewelry, appliances, and frozen foods, Detective Robert Devitt was called into the case and discovered a hospital visitor's pass in the basem*nt of Clarke's home. He checked it to room 346 in Ravenswood hospital and found the occupant to be Mrs. Miller.

He checked further and learned her 23 year old husband was a convicted burglar. Miller, it developed, was on probation from a Milwaukee, burglary, and was free in $5,000 bond on a burglary charge arising from a looting in Schaumburg township. So Detective Devitt arrested Miller, confronted him with the visitor's pass, and Miller confessed the Clarke burglary. Implicates Friend In the garage of Miller's home at 2173 N. Talmon Dewitt found most of the loot.

The meat taken from the Clarke's basem*nt freezer, however, was recovered from the home of a mother of two children who is on relief. Miller said he had given her the food. Miller also implicated a friend, Thomas Hamelin, 22, of 4249 Armitage as his partner in the burglary. Capt. Michale Foley of the Austin station was pleased with Devitt's work in the case.

But it wasn't the first time that Devitt's detection powers had reaped successful results. In 1957, he won the Lambert Tree award for outstanding work. He also has received 18 creditable mentions and six extra compensation awards. EXECUTIVE, 73, IS FOUND DEAD IN APARTMENT Earl H. Cornell, 73, of 210 E.

Pearson st, a leather goods executive, was found dead on his bed in his apartment yesterday. Chicago avenue police said about a dozen empty pill bottles were strewn about. They said he apparently died from taking an overdose of sleeping pills. James Naughton, building engineer, found the body after going to Cornell's room at the request of Cornell's secretary, Mrs. Lavergne Link, 45, of 7830 Bennett who became concerned when Cornell did not come to work yesterday.

He was president of the American Belting Leather company, 1455 Congress pkwy. A note pad was found near the body containing a mesage police described as "mostly illegible," but one part read, "lost use of my right hand." Cornell was separated from his wife, Mary 59, of 200 Ridge Evanston, in 1950 after 25 years of marriage. She recently filed suit for divorce.
