The World Milk Day is observed all over the world on the first of June every year. Promoted by the FAO of the United Nations, the day recognizes the importance of milk as a global food and also aims to popularize activities connected with milk and milk industry.
The Government of Kerala is striving to achieve self sufficiency in milk production by 2018. In order to realise this set goal, the department has initiated specific and tailor made schemes and programmes. This year department is planning to observe World Milk Day ensuring the participation of all stakeholders including dairy farmers, consumers, dairy co-operatives , department officials and representatives from sister concerns.
The state Level celebrations of World milk Day and the State level Workshop will be inaugurated on 1st of June, 2017 at 10.30 am by Hon. Governor Sri. Justice (Retd) P.Sathasivam at Tagore Centenary Hall, vazhuthakad, Thirubvanathapuram. The Hon. Minister for Dairy Development Advocate K.Raju will preside over the function and Sri. Kadakampally Surendran, Hon Minister for Co-operation will deliver the Keynote Address.
